The Week in Review

I had a lot of fun taking Mom to see Twilight last Monday night. I took her to dinner first at Steak n Shake. (I am currently obsessed with their chili and cottage cheese. Not mixed together, though....that would be gross.) There were still quite a few people in the theater. I sat next to an older woman and an even older man. I think he may have been in his seventies. The woman had to repeat all of Bella's lines to him because he couldn't understand Kristen Stewart. I was really starting to wonder why he was even there, and then Jasper made his first appearance. Old Man was like, "There's Jasper!" After that, whenever Jasper was on screen, Old Man would exclaim that there he was. It makes me wonder if he knows the actor. Or knows someone who knows someone who knows someone.....

Tuesday, I was unhappy about going to work. I don't care who you vote for, Inauguration Day should be a holiday so we can all sit glued to the tv. I arranged my lunch time so I could watch the swearing in and speech on the tv in the breakroom. Later that night, Jason & I watched it all on the DVR. The speech was still good the second time around.

Wednesday, I wiggled in my seat all day long. Lost's season premier was that night. I feel like it left me with more questions than answers. And I need a lot of answers after the first four seasons. (What's with the statue foot with only four toes?!?!)

Saturday, Mom and I drove up to Dry Ridge (about 2 hrs north) for Carol Jo's baby shower, who is due in three weeks. Nita organized a little shower at Cracker Barrel, and it was a mini high school reunion. I really wish Tessa and Laurie had been able to make it, too, but we still had lots of fun. And I was groped by a two-year-old. Emily's son, Jasper (not named after Jasper Hale) came to sit on my lap while Emily went to the bathroom. The first thing he did- little hands on the big boobs. I was surprised, asked if he wanted to pat the baby, and moved his hands to my big belly. He patted the baby, said hello, and returned his hands to my chest. I started giggling. When I saw that Kristy saw it all and was laughing, I completely lost it. I laughed so hard, I almost choked on air. I can't say I blame him.....the girls have become quite large and impossible to ignore, and I'm sure that he wasn't patting my boobs so much as he was patting the weird, gigantic things sticking out from my body. He was probably wondering what I was doing with balloons stuck in my shirt or something. Boob obsession aside, Jasper is one of the sweetest, most darling little boys I've met in many, many years, and I'm really looking forward to seeing him grow up.
While I was with my friends, Mom was at a nearby table eating lunch with her Uncle Sonny and Aunt Sally. This was the first time I'd ever met them. After the shower was over, Mom & I went over to Sonny & Sally's house to visit for awhile. Then the plan was to go back to Hodgenville, take a nap, and meet up with Emily N, Christy, and Sherrie to see Twilight. Sherrie had called the theater earlier in the week to make sure it would still be playing Saturday night and was assured that it would be. Was it actually still playing Saturday night? Of course not. So as I was already getting itchy to head home, Em texted me the sad news. Then she texted that the movie was playing in New Albany (just across the river from Lousiville in Indiana), was I still up for going? Hell, yes!!! Mom and I headed back to Lexington, then across the state to Louisville. We met up with Em and Angela. We headed on up to New Albany, and Mom drove my car home.
Jason had been in Louisville working (dedicated employee) and then went to Sam's Club in Indiana to get Band of Brothers on Blu-ray. So guess who showed up at the movie theater right as I was ordering my ticket! He had some theater coupons that his boss gave him for Christmas last year, and since he was so close, he decided to bring them by for us to have. How sweet was that! The tickets were $9 each, but after $20 in coupons, I only shelled out $7 for three adult tickets. Which was also sweet! I checked out the toilets while Angela & Em got us popcorn and drinks. The theater was packed! I couldn't believe how many people were there. All ages, too. (Old Man was not there. But thanks to him, I am now hyper-aware of Jasper Hale.) We had so much fun with our girls' night out, what's next? Nashville? Cincinatti? I guess it just depends on where it's still playing. Sherrie still hasn't seen it, and now that Shannon's finally reading the book, she'll surely want to go see it, too. Not sure if we'll be able to get Christy to do anything that spontaneous, but we'll work on her.

Here's a pic of Angela, me and Em between updating our Facebook statuses (stati? what's the plural of status??) and the start of the movie.

Intervention?

I'm going to see Twilight tonight (with Mom). For the fourth time. Does somebody need to stage an intervention? Four times is the average viewing total in this area.......

Bonding

Yesterday I had to take a nap at work and by the time I got home, I crashed again. I woke up for dinner and went back to bed. I was very surprised when I woke up this morning and was still exhausted. The thought of doing anything besides eating breakfast made me want to cry, so I ended up staying home from work. When I got tired of the bed, I settled into the recliner, and Ruthie decided to join me. Every so often I would notice her inching closer and closer to my baby bump. She finally ended up on her side with her ear pressed to it. Jonas decided that would be a great time to wake up and start kicking at the warm spot. He was going at it so hard that I could watch her head bounce up and down! Ruthie must realized that he will eventually be another entity to worship her. She kept her head where it was and started purring, which made Jonas even more active. Jason and I were worried about how she'll react when she meets Jonas. She seems to believe that she's the baby, but I think she's going to love Jonas....if she can get over the fact that I can't carry her and Jonas at the same time.

Dreamy

I've been so tired this past week. I think work makes me tired. It certainly takes up a lot of my day, and I'm looking forward to not having to go anymore!

Jason's birthday was last Thursday. On Wednesday, I played a little joke on him. I asked Delayna to text him and ask him why I was getting him a life-size cut-out of Edward Cullen (only $29.95 on amazon) for his birthday. He texted her back and said Edward was "dreamy." My husband cracks me up!

I'm watching Love Story right now. I've never seen it before. "Love means never having to say you're sorry." May be so, but if you love someone, you will say you're sorry because otherwise you're a jerk. I don't think I like this movie at all. Ali McGraw's character is a real bitch, and Ryan O'Neal's character is annoying, too.

So I have four projects on the needles, a huge stack of books to read, a nursery to put together....and I'm in too much of a pregnancy fog to complete anything. We'll see how this turns out.

Vampire Memur

We are currently in Davis, WV on a weekend trip with friends. We're actually staying in a community called Dry Forks, but (egads!) there is no cell phone service in the area. So no phones, no internet. We had to come into town so Jason could make sure his work projects are okay, and I decided I should go ahead and tell you, or warn you, about vampire memurs.

There's a rodent problem at the cabin. Yesterday morning, Meli took some bread off of the fridge, and it had been violated by one of the critters. Nice. So last night, Other Jason set a mouse trap on the ledge above the fridge before we sat down to a dinner of pork & sauerkraut (thanks, Bob!). After dinner the trap went off. Jason got on a chair to check it out, and he said that there was something up there in the trap, laying on its back. I had a bad feeling about it and begged him to not mess with it. So Bob got up there and picked it up. And then dropped it on the stove. At which point, it came back to life and jumped on the top ledge of the stove. Other Jason grabbed a paper towel and then grabbed the critter. He was almost to the door when the little booger started biting him. Had it been me, I would have gone Incredible Hulk on him and squeezed the life out him, but Other Jason proceeded to fling the thing as far out into the yard as he could. Never fear, he sanitized the bite marks (3) with vodka and neosporin.

We all tried to decide what it was. It was bigger than a mouse, more chipmunk sized, but gray. It had a short tail, but furry like a squirrel. I finally decided that it was half mouse, half lemur and because it was a biter.......a vampire memur.

It tried to come back, but Other Jason went into the yard and scared it up a tree where we believe it died of a heart attack.

Of course, there are more in the cabin. Yay.

By the way, it's a gray squirrel, and it's against the law to kill them. :)

Happy New Year!!
