Read the Entry for the 17th, too

I wrote the rough draft back on the 17th, but didn't post it until today. I kinda thought it would post under today's date....oh well. Just didn't want anyone to miss it!

Woobie

Here's Jonas with his woobie. A woobie is an comfort object like a blanket or stuffed animal. I heard someone call this his "lovey" and somebody else call it his "comfy." He loves this lamb-head-blankie so much that now when Jason and I say woobie, we're only refering to this specific item. So I guess we could name it Woobie (not to be confused with Whoopi Goldberg, who is another great love of Jonas' life!)

Change in Perspective

Before Jonas, "alone time" meant being at home all by myself. Now "alone time" means going to Walmart at noon on Saturdays without my husband and child.

Valeria, Socks, & Cereal

Valeria is in its "ultimas semanas." I think I can safely translate that without the Spanish-English dictionary: final weeks. *sad face* I stopped writing updates because as the plot thickened and more characters were added, it started getting too complicated and twisty to discuss with non-Valeria followers. And as I know no other Valeria followers, I haven't been discussing it. Except for the random tidbits that I throw out to Jason every now and then.

I finished knitting my flip flop socks. Love them! They're really comfy, and I think I'll knit all my socks this way from now on! I also finished a pair of socks for Dad. I started them right after his birthday last January because I didn't have the forsight to knit them BEFORE his birthday. Yes, it took me nine months to knit one pair of socks....they're HUGE. I also managed to lose them twice, yes twice, in my house. Home Organization is an ongoing battle for me...

Jonas started eating rice cereal. He likes the cereal, but he loves the spoon! When he sees it coming towards him, he opens up wide. Then he grabs it (sometimes the handle, usually the round part filled with cereal) and helps put it in his mouth. As a result, we get cereal everywhere and on everyone, and boy, is it sticky! I think rice cereal may double as paste or an industrial strength bonding agent. He gets to start on fruits and veggies on Oct 4. We're going to give him green beans first because that's our favorite veggie.

Jonas continues to roll from back to front every chance he gets and usually sleeps on his stomach now. We still always put him on his back to start off, but in the morning, he's face down in a puddle of baby drool. At 4-month checkup, he weighed 17 lbs 3 oz and was 26 inches long. (Although, I think he was longer than that.....) The last time I attempted to weigh and measure him was about two weeks ago, and he was 18 lbs 4 oz and 27 inches. I'll let you know the official verdict when I take him to be weighed on Friday. When he's 5 months old!

September Already??

Why so long since I last posted? I've been knitting and taking care of baby. That's pretty much it. And oh yeah, planning on having a yard sale sometime soon so I've been speed reading some old books that I no longer want. (I just want to refresh my memory on some of them...)

For Jonas, I've knitting a red winter outfit, a blue cardigan, and a blue & green sweater. I'm also knitting him a penguin for Christmas. I'm almost finished with a pair of flip flop socks for me. Since I plan on knitting most of my Christmas gifts this year, I've got to get a move on. I've been organizing my stash, and I won't let myself by anymore yarn until I've thinned the herd (hence the decision to knit most of this year's Christmas gifts). I know I've made such bold statements in the past, but this time I really mean it! I have two big Rubbermaid containers filled with yarn. I even made a list of what I have and which container it's in. I still have four more XXL Ziplock bags (you know the ones that have been marketed for storing your SPORTS EQUIPTMENT) filled to explosion with more yarn that has to be catalogued and packed away. Meanwhile, I've filled TWO AND A HALF BOXES with yarn that I'm giving to Jeanne for her and for her elementary school students.

Jonas had his 4 month exam yesterday. He weighs 17 lbs 3 oz and is 26 inches long. That puts him in the 90th percentile for weight and 85th percentile for height. For some reason this past week he has stopped sleeping through the night. On a positive note, on Monday he starting consistently rolling over from back to front!

Chewing on a cloth diaper. We use them as burp cloths, but they also double as woobies. He likes to sleep with them, chew on them, hide his face with them, and fling them around.
