Jonas & Emery

Jonas and I went to Jeffersonville, IN yesterday to visit Megan and meet her daughter Emery. Emery is one month and one day younger than Jonas. Megan is my oldest friend in the world......I can't believe we're grown ups now, with houses, husbands, & babies!

Crack of Dawn

Ugh. I have to get up early tomorrow morning for an eye appointment. It's at 8:45. I did that last year when I didn't know I was pregnant and wouldn't want to go anywhere before noon after Jonas came on the scene.

I can guarantee the doctor will say something about dry, red eyes, and I will then point meaningfully towards the baby carrier while grunting "duh" and rolling those dry, red eyes like a twelve year old girl.

Only Son of An Only Son

I just want to clarify that while my dad was an only son of an only son, he does have two sisters. And my grandfather had a whole whack of sisters, like 5 or 6. So that's why I have a TON of cousins but none sharing my maiden name.

Ew. Maiden name. "That looks icky and terribly old-fashioned", says the housewife/stay-at-home mother. I'll have to think of another name for "the last name I was born with". Suggestions?

Isn't It Neat?

So. Adventure Fridays. Not talking about those today. On Adventure Friday.

Instead, I have to tell you about something really cool about Facebook. You can find relatives you didn't know you had. Like the kinda-distant-but-not-too-distant cousin I have living in Louisville.

Here's how it happened......

Mom said that Philip was on fb now but was only friending people who don't live in the area. On a whim I decided to search for him, just to see. Well, it didn't pull up him, but it did pull up another Philip, only this one was a Phillip in New Zealand. (One "L" vs Two "L's", people.) It also pulled up a Jeanette in NZ, and I friended her and declared her to be a distant cousin although I'm 99.99% sure we're not related even though it's not a really a common last name (at least not in Kentucky). So then I did a search just for our last name, and I somehow accidentally searched just the Louisville network. And that's how I found Muriel, my kinda-distant-but-not-too distant cousin's wife. (By the way, Philip isn't on fb; he's on LinkD or whatever it's called.)

Since then I've found about 500 others with the name on fb, but so far only one besides Muriel that I think could be a relation.

Trust me....when you've grown up in a small town where everyone is related to everyone else except for you and nobody else has your last name besides your mom, dad, and brother (and now sister-in-law), and non of your cousins have the same name because your father was the only son of an only son...all of this is REALLY exciting!

A Month of Jonas

Here are some pictures of Jonas. The first one is from July 2, and the last one is from August 3. Of course he did have some adventures during July and met lots of new people. I'll post those eventually and fill yall in on our newest fun- Adventure Fridays....

Cool dude. I did find him smaller glasses. I noticed that Alicia's son has this same pair, and he's what....3-ish years old? These are too big for now. You can't see it really, but the arms extend about an inch past the back of his head.

I finally found a hat that fit Jonas, and then I either shrank it in the wash or his head grew really fast overnight!

I don't know why blogger likes to mess with my pictures like this. I've noticed other ones I've posted have looked like this. Anywho, how adorable are those chubby little hands?

When he's out, he's out. Thank you, Big Man Upstairs.

Even crying, where YOU this cute? I don't think so. (Meli, I swear this is not a reflection on how he feels about this onesie...)

I think you can see how much I love, adore, am distracted by my son. No wonder I don't blog, facebook, myspace, email, text, call anymore.
I predict he'll break more than a few hearts someday......
