Household Tip #12

When using an Electosol tablet in the dishwasher, it is HIGHLY suggested that you remove the plastic wrapper from the tablet BEFORE putting it in the dishwasher. Otherwise, you'll just have to run the dishwasher a second time in one day.

That being said....thanks, Meli, for trying to wash my dishes!

I Know.....

Gina has informed me that now that I am unemployed I should have plenty of time to blog.

I'll have more time once Meli's back in VA, and I'm all by my lonesome. Right now we've been spending lots of time eating, sanding (I helped a little), painting (all Meli), shopping, knitting, organizing baby stuff, getting sunburned, going to the Patton Museum, attending my baby shower, and watching Twilight. It's been a busy few days!

Pictures

I have uploaded a lot of photos to my kodak site. I'm trying to change the settings so you don't need a password to view the site, but until I accomplish that, the password is handshake (you know, like a secret handshake.....lame but effective). I will warn you right now that the pics of my 34 week prego belly are not pretty. It's a huge belly with A LOT of stretch marks. I mostly wanted to get some shots of my tats to send to Cat & Cren, but then Ruthie decided she wanted to cuddle with Jonas so we kept shooting.

Tomorrow I'll post pics on here of the little hats and booties I recently knit.

Overwhelmed

Quick update since the last blog.....the very next Friday, Emily and I organized an outing to Louisville after work to go see.....Twilight. (I know- you're so shocked.) Emily, her two girls, Susan, Angie, and I met up with Becky at the Village 8. That was actually a neat little theater, and the movie was packed with people of all ages, just like our experience in Indiana.

Besides that, we've had more snow, a tornado, almost 80 degree weather, rain, 30 degree weather.....everyday has been a different weather experience. By the way, the last snow came a few days after the almost 80 degree day. That's Kentucky for you.

It seems like a lot has happened, but I can't recall any of it right now. That's kind of how it goes these days. My short term memory isn't working too well, and I'm tired all the time again. That's why I haven't blogged or been on the web. It seems like it all takes too much energy. Instead, I've been knitting and nagging Jason to work on the nursery. (Which he is painting as I write.) I do keep up with my favorite blogs and read my emails on my cell phone so I'm not completely out of touch with the world. Huge congrats to Benny and Michelle on the arrival of Olivia!

Wednesday morning when I left for work, I had plans to blog later that night. However, when I checked my work email, I found out that Tameka was throwing a surprise baby shower for Keri (due April 4) on Friday. I totally had one of those "oh crap" moments. I knew I didn't have enough time to knit a sweater, but I really, really wanted to knit something for her. Luckily, I've been going through my massive stacks of kniting magazines and saving just the patterns I'm pretty sure I will tackle someday, and one of the patterns just happened to be for a "Welcome Home" hat, booties, and bunny set. So instead of grabbing the laptop, as soon as I got home, I started knitting.

Not true. First I searched everywhere for my size 4 dpns. Nowhere to be found. The biggest I could find were size 3s. No problem. I'm still not that concerned with gage. Yeah, I said it....I am defying the Knitting Goddess without fear. (And yes, that will come back to bite me in the ass at some point.) Anyway, I knit like a crazy woman and finished the hat Wednesday night. The next day when I got home, I again knit like a crazy woman and finished both booties before going to bed. I didn't even try knitting the bunny. Friday came, and Keri had a nice little shower and liked the hat and booties.

After work I headed to Old Navy to get a long town gown for my first baby shower on Saturday. First I had to stop at Michael's so I could pee, and in exchange for clean facilities, I bought 4 skeins of Bernat Baby Jacquards in "I'm A Big Boy." I wanted to knit the same hat/booties combo that I just finished for Keri. Then I saw a pattern book for the yarn that has the cutest overalls pattern, so I got that, too.

Then over to Old Navy where I got 3 dresses that are long enough they go past my ankles. I feel sorry for shorter women, who will be dragging the dresses on the ground. (Wait, no, I don't really feel sorry. Everything is usually made for the short ones.) I got a lot of weird looks from the other shoppers because I wasn't in the rapidly shrinking maternity section of the store. Well guess what.....the town gowns fit prego bellies quite nicely, and those people should just mind their own business.

The shower yesterday was awesome! Mom threw it for me at Claudia's Tea Room in Sonora. The guests were all retired teachers that I either had in school or have just known my whole life. Jeanne and Blythe were the exceptions, but they know most of the others so Mom invited them, too. So the guests were Jeanne, Blythe, Mrs Duggins (senior AP English teacher), Mrs Thomas (not one of my teachers, but Philip's BF's mom), Mrs Shaw (Algebra II), Mrs Claycomb (journalism, yearbook, and my childhood BF's mom), Mrs Mitchell (not one of my teachers), Mrs Long (my 1st grade teacher), and Mrs Burden (my typing teacher). The first tea we had was blueberry, and it smelled soooo yummy. The second tea was pomegranate. I didn't think I'd like it, but with a little bit of sugar, it was Too Die For.

I guess I should take a moment to mention here that I haven't been drinking caffeine at all, and I've been having a hard time with the no iced tea thing. At Christmas, Mom made me caffeine free iced tea, which was the best part of Christmas dinner. Last weekend, I did break down and have two glasses of iced tea at lunch. Jason and I decided that this far into the pregnancy, two glasses probably wouldn't hurt. And I thought yesterday that having more tea still wouldn't hurt me, but then it turned out that neither the blueberry or the pom had caffeine in it. Yay!

So what's going on with me now? I have two weeks left of work, and six weeks until my due date. I have bunches of doctor's appointments, four more baby showers, baby care class, breastfeeding class, a visit from Meli, the Twilight bluray release, and a Twilight party at Alaina's house.......Meanwhile, once Jason finishes painting the nursery, I've got to get it set up, and I've got to get the house clean enough that I won't die of embarassment when Meli comes.

Oh, I just remembered that last weekend I took my last long trip. I wanted Aunt Esta to see my big belly, and the while I'm glad that we went up there, the 2 hour drive each way killed me. I'm not even sure I could make the drive up to Lousiville anymore. So when word came earlier this week that my great-aunt Charlene passed away in Arkansas (and my great-aunt Midge was in the hospital in Arkansas after a series of strokes), I was feeling very frustrated that I couldn't go to the funeral. (It was my 33rd week, and I was only allowed to fly until my 32nd week.) I did cry a little bit, but Aunt Charlene has had cancer for more than a few years now, so her passing has been expected for a while.
